DJ Unimportant's Year of the Fucktard

YOTF

For the record, DJ Unimportant is performance artist Mongo Nikol, the inspired ringmaster behind the direction of this very site. And as reported earlier here at H2RS, this is the cover of the new DJ Unimportant album, Year of the Fucktard - DJ U's first release since moving back to the US from Canada, and the artist's fourth since '03!

So, how is it the bleeding-edge noise artist remains so dedicated and mobile yet simultaneously so mobile and genuinely unusual? It must be the good living and clean water of Montreal (not to mention the influence of having such neighbors such as DJs Tiga and Buck 65, as well as the Arcade Fire).

In any case, Year of the Fucktard is described as being a "traditional mix tape release of non-traditions future sound, music and noise, for a 21st century audience." Here's what DJ U had to say about it himself,
This was a tough album to make, tougher than the rest, because I have been on the road the whole time since my last album with Epeorus Music, and been dealing with passport and citizenship issues from when I renounced my US citizenship at the US consulate in Vancouver, '03. Plus I get an enormous amount of flak from other artists who continue to make commercial and unintelligent music, even the ones I am friends with or whose music I play.

This album, therefore, is a lot about that, because I am now clear on what I want from a nation and what is unacceptable to me as I am about what I find unacceptable and what I find about music. Which is exactly how I feel about music. Most is unacceptable because of what is happening now. I like pop, and I think it's relevant to mix it in and showcase it appropriately, but my first priority is being true to the music I compose and perform, that both fans and peers oddly call noise.

Fucktardin'-a right! GIVER!
