This is breaking news: Notorious hacker alliance, Anonymous [see 4chan], has turned its attention upon...get ready...the Church of Scientology!
Following a highly publicized litigious action (and) by the Church of Scientology (COS) that on threat of lawsuit led to YouTube's removal of a newly popularized video [mirror 1, mirror 2, mirror 3, mirror 4, variation, a YouTube member reciting the video, all the strange terms actor Tom Cruise is using] that shows Tom Cruise/COS in a less than favorable light, a video that Gawker and Fark have chosen [1, 2] to keep up the video. But that's not news.
What is news is that a consequence of this action against free speach, world hacker group Anonymous ie Anon has declared war on Scientology and effectively shut down Scientology's website! What started as a distributed-denial-of-service (DDOS) attack has resulted in a steadily increasing momentum of traffic to the CoS site, thereby re-doubling and perhaps tripling the effect of the DDOS"
"Traffic to the Scientology website had already increased 18-fold prior to the attack, following increased attention after the Tom Cruise video appeared on the Internet. At that time, one in three visits to the site came from BBC News, and the website increased to number 3 in the company Hitwise UK's Lifestyle-Religion category."In other words the attention that is being drawn to the site by its being shut down is increasing the effect of the attack exponentially. See for yourself, no Church of Scientology website.
Update: Strictly NSFW encyclopediadramatica, whose pivotal Project Chantology entry was keeping a strictly NSFW account of the proceedings, is contintully being shut down as a result of an attack on service.
Watch as the future of unfold before our very eyes.
